What is TMJ?

The temporomandibular joints (TMJ) on either side of your head connect your jaw to your skull, allowing your jaw to function properly – opening and closing your mouth, chewing, speaking. Because they can move in many different directions (forward, back, sideways), these joints are some of the most complex in your body. Inflammation of the jaw joint or other issues with these joints is called TMJ disorder (TMD) and there are mutiple treatment options, one of the most effective being dental botox.

A dentist draws liquid from a vial into a syringe, carefully preparing for an injection.

Symptoms

of TMD

  • Pain (jaw, face, ears)
  • Migraine-like headaches
  • Pain and pressure behind eyes
  • Pain, clicking or popping (opening and closing mouth)
  • Jaw issues (feels out of joint, sore muscles)
  • Swollen face

Common

causes of TMD

  • Injury or dislocation
  • Teeth clenching (often from stress)
  • Poor posture
  • Disk erosion
  • Arthritis
  • Poor tooth or jaw alignment

Botox® for

Relieving Pain

Dr. Daniela delivers non-surgical pain relief solutions with Botox® or Dysport® to effectively relieve TMJ symptoms and jaw tension to alleviate headaches, migraines, and facial pain.

How Does Botox®

Relieve Pain?

Botox allows the muscles normally engaged in habitual and often unconscious activities like clenching and grinding to relax. As the muscles relax, the associated pain is relieved. Botox® is FDA approved to relieve migraine headaches.
