The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a child’s first orthodontics screening by age 7. If that seems young, the goal is to learn where your child’s mouth is in terms of growth and development. If discovered early, smile imperfections can usually be treated with palatal expanders or tooth spacers to prepare for braces around age 12, or once all their permanent teeth have come in. Earlier treatments make it easier to work within natural growth patterns, resulting in less trauma and pain for your child as their teeth move back into place. Dr. Eversgerd offers this screening at the Mandeville office.
Orthodontic Screenings for Adults
During an adult orthodontic screening, your teeth positioning and bite alignment will be evaluated by our dentist, Dr. Eversgerd. Digital X-rays will also be taken if we don’t already have a recent set on file. You will then have the opportunity to share with her your smile improvement objectives, and to ask any questions about your treatment options, including Invisalign. When finished with your consultation, you’ll then have the opportunity to schedule a follow-up appointment right there in the Mandeville office.
Invisalign: The Best Braces Alternative to Teeth Alignment
The primary teeth-straightening method we use for a patient in our Mandeville office is Invisalign. Virtually invisible to others, Invisalign clear plastic aligners work well as a smile-restoring alternative to traditional fixed metal or ceramic braces. Over time, Invisalign also causes less mouth discomfort than do traditional and lingual braces, and you can still eat all your favorite foods!
